2D Dipole-wall collision

The initial configuration of this 2D problem is a pair of counter-rotating vortexes. This is illustrated on the left picture below, which shows the vorticity distribution in the initial configuration. The blue vortex is clockwise rotating, and the red vortex counter-clockwise. The system is self-propelled towards the right no-slip wall, and secondary pairs of vortexes are generated during interaction with the wall. The right picture shows vorticity contours of the upper vortex during its collision with the wall. This problem is extensively discussed in Clercx and Bruneau, 2005.
